Holy Shrapnel and Good Gifts

Ephesians 1...

"Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son."

In World War II, my Grandfather had to leave the battle after an explosion left a big ole hunk of metal shrapnel lodged in his shoulder. It was the side effect of an explosion.

When we align ourselves with the God who gives GOOD GIFTS, and his perfect plan for our lives... there is some serious hope shrapnel... kindness shrapnel... love shrapnel... compassion shrapnel... that begins to fly.

"He thought of everything, provided for everything we could possibly need, letting us in on the plans he took such delight in making. He set it all out before us in Christ, a long-range plan in which everything would be brought together and summed up in him, everything in deepest heaven, everything on planet earth."

Think about it. When you're acting IN LINE with the designer's plans... other's will be free to do likewise. If one part of an architect's design didn't function in it's designed purpose, the other parts of a structure would be handicapped in their ability to do likewise... leaving the structure unsound

"God raised him from death and set him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from his rule. And not just for the time being, but forever. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything. At the center of all this, Christ rules the church. The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church. The church is Christ's body, in which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence."

From our view inside the church (let alone from the outside)... that's an easy statement to "pft!" But it IS the spiritual structure of the world we see and the spirit realm we don't. God gave us the choice to choose life and allow his Kingdom to function as it was intended... or to ignore it and be left watching the news at night saying... "tisk tisk, this sick world."
