Answer: Jesus

Want to mess with your Sunday School teacher's noggin? Answer every question "Jesus". Try it with me.

1) Why do bad things happen to good people?
Answer: Jesus

2) What are some ways to reach out to your neighbors?
Answer: Jesus

Brother, you CANNOT go wrong with that one. But for some reason, scientists don't seem to find that joke quite as funny as I do. To them, there is seemingly very little logic in "Jesus" being even considered as an answer to any logical question... let alone how the Universe was made!

That, coupled with the fact that our responses are about as effective as Homer's when he said,
"Let's just say that on this day a million years ago, a dude was born who most of us think was magic. But other's don't and that's cool. But we're probably right. Amen."
I think that's what science hears us saying when we flippantly just say... "Jesus" as THE answer to the mysteries of the universe that they've struggled their whole professional life to uncover.

1 Peter 3:15 says,
"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."
NOT having a good Christian answer is quite frankly insulting to the educated as it's not acknowledging them in their language. On CSI, Grissom always says that he simply "follows the evidence". That's all scientists are doing! But truth is sometimes slow to uncover, and God is bigger than the dirt we've already dug.

Play this out. When there are misunderstandings between two people... there are fights about who is right. Two kids both claiming ownership of a lollipop are not likely to have much grace for each other's point of view. "Why yes Billy... I see now from your perspective why you'd feel that emotional attachment to that certain item of confectionery".

Contrary to what many non-believers think, the Bible does not teach blind faith. In fact, in 1 Thessalonians 5:21 it tells believers to test everything. Proverbs 18:15 says, "The mind of the prudent acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge."

If we can all have a little "gentleness and respect" for each other... take a deep breath... and realize that we're ALL searching for "Truth"... God will continue to reveal who He is to both kids holding the lollipop.
